#781 Air Force +13.5 over UNLV 9:00 PM CT

UNLV is 18-7 on the season for a year of great improvement after winning just 11 games last season. After going 11-2 in a mostly light non-conference campaign the Rebels are just 7-5 in Mountain West play. One of those wins came in overtime and six of those wins came by 10 or fewer points with only Saturday 85-70 win hosting Wyoming coming by more than tonight’s spread.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

UNLV won by just five at Air Force a month ago despite shooting over 60 percent as the Falcons dominated the offensive glass and turnover counts. UNLV is an efficient scoring team in the paint but the numbers have headed downward in league play as the schedule has stiffened. UNLV is a marginal free throw shooting team and the worst 3-point shooting team in the Mountain West as the marginal 3-point defense for the Falcons isn’t likely to be a factor tonight.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Air Force will slow this game down the and the Falcons are coming off back-to-back wins over Colorado State and New Mexico as they have been able to win high scoring results as well. Only two of the last 11 games for Air Force have ended in losses by more than this spread as in contrast to UNLV this is a veteran team with great depth. The Rebels also have a huge game with San Diego State up next this weekend and Air Force has covered in the past five meetings in this series and UNLV is just 2-6 ATS in the last eight lined home games.

‘UNDER 146.5’ #747/748 Ohio State at Purdue 7:30 PM CT

After slipping by Michigan with a one-point win in early January, Purdue turned in wins by 34, 28, and 23 the next three games to establish itself as the Big Ten frontrunner. Purdue remains undefeated at 12-0 in Big Ten play but in now four straight games it has taken close calls to keep the streak alive regardless of the competition. Purdue’s last four wins have come by four, seven, eight, and two points and while this home date with Ohio State matches two teams in the first two spots in the Big Ten standings, Saturday’s game with Michigan State seems more important in the big picture.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

If you are looking for top 20 wins for Purdue there aren’t any, as beating Ohio State Wednesday would qualify as the strongest win of the season to date for the Boilermakers. Wins over Marquette, Arizona, and Louisville no longer stand out in non-conference play and Purdue has played one of the weakest Big Ten schedules so far. Purdue narrowly out-paces Ohio State in conference offensive efficiency but the top defense belongs to the surprising Buckeyes who should control the pace in this matchup and aim to grind out a tight lower scoring game.

Ohio State has not lost a true road game yet this season and while this will be by far the toughest test this team continues to impress with Chris Holtmann deserving of national coach of the year consideration in his first season in Columbus. The only Big Ten loss for Ohio State came by three points in a game where Penn State shot over 58 percent, including making 11 of 14 3-point shots. Despite Purdue’s size Ohio State is the far more impressive defensive rebounding team and Ohio State has scored at a higher percentage inside of the 3-point line. The Boilermakers are much more reliant on 3-point shooting and despite some high scoring games for both teams these are relatively slow tempo teams. ‘Under’ looks promising with high stakes in the Big Ten tonight.

#763 Missouri +5.5 over Alabama 8:00 PM CT

Despite losing two star freshmen this season Missouri is on pace to exceed last season’s results by a significant margin. Not likely a NCAA Tournament team the next two weeks present a great opportunity for the Tigers to climb back into that conversation with notable games with Alabama and Kentucky this week. Missouri is just 3-5 in SEC play but two losses came by just two points each as the record could easily be reversed. The shooting numbers are terrific all over the floor with a 39 percent 3-point shooting and 77 percent free throw shooting.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Missouri has four wins away from home this season and riding three straight defeats this is a critical game for the Tigers. Alabama has a very high ceiling as big wins this month over Auburn and Oklahoma attest. This is a dangerous game in-between last weekend’s huge game with the Sooners and a big matchup this weekend vs. Florida. Alabama only have one home loss on the season but six wins have come by single-digits as there have been many close calls for this team.

Unlike Missouri, Alabama is shooting just 33 percent from 3-point range and just 68 percent at the line for a big contrast. The Tide has an outstanding defense but they haven’t always been able to sustain that intensity for 40 minutes. Alabama has also played arguably the weakest SEC schedule so far this season, yet to play Florida, Kentucky, or Tennessee. Both meetings between these teams were tight last season despite Missouri winning only eight games all season and this looks like a good scheduling spot to fade an erratic young Tide team coming off big national spotlight win with this fairly low spread designed to entice action on the home favorite that everyone just watched beat Oklahoma.

#712 Memphis Grizzlies +1.5 over San Antonio Spurs 7:05 PM CT

The Spurs responded from recent rumors of internal turmoil with a win over Cleveland on Tuesday night, delivering a big second quarter to pull away in an eventual 114-102 victory. San Antonio didn’t shoot well from 3-point range but hit 50 percent overall on field goals. Five players eclipsed 30 minutes while Tony Parker was given a bit of a light night as has been the case frequently in recent weeks.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

San Antonio was recently passed up by Minnesota for the #3 spot in the Western Conference but while the Spurs are 20-3 at home they are just 11-15 on the road. An average scoring differential of just +3.3 is out of sync with the season record and the Spurs are 3-7 ATS this season playing on the second of back-to-back days. Memphis has turned a corner with strong recent results winning five of the last seven while on a 10-2 ATS run. The Grizzlies are a near .500 home team while covering in the past six home dates.

San Antonio is 7-9 ATS on the road vs. losing teams while covering in just 40 percent of its road games overall this season. The schedules offer some contrast at all with Memphis facing five more games vs. the league’s top 10 than San Antonio has and this is a big series for the Grizzlies who are 0-2 in this matchup last season coming off last season’s competitive playoff series with the Grizzlies beating the Spurs twice at home last April.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

#715 Los Angeles Lakers +9.5 over Oklahoma City Thunder 7:05 PM CT

The Lakers are playing arguably their best basketball of the season with a 4-1 run the last five games including a win over the Spurs and a win in Dallas before losing by nine at Memphis on Monday. After a rough start Los Angeles finished that game strong and the Lakers have an opportunity tonight to redeem a 37-point loss hosting the Thunder two weeks ago.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Oklahoma City shot over 60 percent in that game and the Thunder are worth fading tonight coming off back-to-back narrow wins over two of the worst teams in the league. The Thunder has just two double-digit wins in the past nine games and next on the schedule is a huge showcase game with the Cavaliers this weekend. Oklahoma City is 15-7 S/U at home but just 9-13 ATS while the Thunder is 5-18 ATS when favored by at least four points but fewer than 11 points this season.

The Lakers have a 13-10 ATS record vs. winning teams this season as the young club is rising to the occasion in most prominent matchups. Lonzo Ball could sit out again tonight’s but the rookie hasn’t lived up to the attention he gets and fellow rookie Kyle Kuzma has been the more important player for the Lakers and Brandon Ingram will be returning to the lineup tonight.

#719 Phoenix Suns +11.5 over Denver Nuggets 8:05 PM CT

Denver has one of the best home records in the NBA at 12-4 S/U although they are juts 9-7 ATS. Tonight’s price will be among the largest of the season to support Denver even with the team coming off back-to-back losses and actually losing two of the past four home games.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

The Suns have been a competitive team in recent weeks going 6-4 S/U and 6-3-1 ATS in the past 10 games, actually 3-1 ATS in road games in that span. This is the first meeting of the season with Denver winning the past six meetings in this series but the Suns have more road wins than home wins and this is a dangerous spot for the hosts in between more prominent home games.

Phoenix has as many top 10 wins as Denver this season and despite the contrasting valuations the Suns are only four games behind the Nuggets in the win column. Ugly results in the start of the season before the coaching change skew the numbers for the Suns who are also 8-3 ATS as a double-digit underdog this season and 7-2 ATS on the road vs. winning teams.

#706 Atlanta Hawks +6 over Washington Wizards 6:35 PM CT

Washington made the most of a Christmas night showcase opportunity besting the Celtics 111-103 for a statement win. The Wizards had a substantial edge at the line to account for the difference while Boston had 17 turnovers. The Wizards are just a .500 road team on the season and this could be a dangerous follow-up game in Atlanta.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Washington had lost the previous three road games all against losing teams prior to the narrow win in Boston and a huge home game with league-leading Houston is next on the schedule in a Friday night TV game. At 8-25 the Hawks are currently the worst team in the NBA by record but they have more respectable home record while an average scoring differential of just -4.9 per game is indicative of a more competitive team with several teams featuring a worse margin on the season.

Atlanta is averaging nearly 104 points per game and a 1-11 record vs. the league’s top 10 weighs on the numbers with a difficult early season schedule. The Wizards have only faced eight such games for one of the weaker schedules in the league. Atlanta has two wins in the last five games with two of the three losses coming by three or fewer points and only twice in the last 13 games have the Hawks lost by more than 10 points and the Hawks are on an 8-2 ATS run. Over the past five games the Wizards have a worse defensive scoring average than Atlanta and Washington is 3-11 ATS this season when favored by fewer than eight points.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

#714 New Orleans Pelicans -5 over Minnesota Timberwolves 7:05 PM CT

The Timberwolves blew a fourth quarter lead last night hosting Washington, falling by three in a game they led almost the entire way. At 12-9 the Wolves are a Western Conference contender but they still own a negative scoring differential on the season and have played just .500 ball on the road.

11-9 New Orleans has a slightly stronger scoring differential and could be in position for a bounce-back performance tonight. The Pelicans last played on Saturday losing to Golden State but they had won the previous three games including wins over the Spurs and Thunder at home by 17 and 7 points respectively.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Minnesota has minimal depth especially with Jeff Teague and Nemanja Bjelica sitting out last night as handling back-to-back games with long travel could be a challenge. The five starters for Minnesota all eclipsed 37 minutes last night and Minnesota has lost both road games on the second of back-to-back nights this season, falling by 21 at Detroit and by 16 at Charlotte for lopsided results.

Minnesota is on a 0-5-1 ATS run the past six games despite a favorable home stand and a big rematch with Oklahoma City is up next on the schedule with those teams playing a pair of great games already this season. This is also a revenge spot with Minnesota winning narrowly early in the season at New Orleans 104-98 on November 1. The Wolves shot nearly 50 percent in that game and had a big rebounding edge despite the game being tied in the final minute.

The win was just the second in the past nine trips to New Orleans for the Wolves with a 2-7 S/U and ATS run since early 2013. New Orleans has already played eight games against the league’s top 10 teams compared to six for Minnesota for a tougher early slate despite the similar numbers and records and the Wolves continue to rate as one of the league’s very worst teams in defensive efficiency.

#513 Memphis Grizzlies -3.5 over Dallas Mavericks 7:35 PM CT

With the many big transactions in the offseason and the rise of several great collections of talent in the Western Conference, one of the four remaining undefeated teams is an unheralded Grizzlies team that won 43 games last season with one of the better defenses in the league. The Grizzlies have defeated the Pelicans, Warriors, and Rockets as it has been far from any easy first week for a team that gave the Spurs a tight six-game series in the playoffs last April.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Memphis rates as a top 10 team in offensive and defensive efficiency despite the tough slate while Dallas rates as the second worst defense only ahead of Phoenix while also a bottom eight offense. The 0-4 Mavericks were understandably overmatched vs. Houston and Golden State but also lost at home to the Hawks and Kings.

There is some young talent on the roster but the Mavericks have been cautious with Dennis Smith getting an injury scare early this season and sitting out two games already this season. The Mavericks are firing up 35 3-point shots per game but the results have been ugly from Smith, Harrison Barnes, Wesley Matthews as well as Dirk Nowitzki. There have been some early season hurdles on and off the court for a team no one expects to be great but might find better form later in the season.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

Right now the Grizzlies are playing as well as any team in the league and they will be up for the first of two games between these teams the next two nights as a reasonable road favorite considering the Warriors were more than triple this price on Monday, winning by 30.

#718 San Antonio Spurs -1.5 over Minnesota Timberwolves 8:35 PM CT

Kawhi Leonard isn’t expected to play tonight but the Spurs have plenty of experienced veterans with a roster loaded with All Star caliber players. Losing Leonard in a playoff series is devastating but the Spurs would still be a playoff team without Leonard.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”newness” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]

The Wolves are expected to be a playoff team for the first time in more than a decade this season with the addition of Jimmy Butler but he couldn’t save a miserable Bulls team last season and the young nucleus for Minnesota still hasn’t been able to get over the hump. Minnesota was a much better team than the 31-51 record with a barely negative scoring differential but consistency was an issue, as was closing out games.

The Wolves should be better defensively this season but the team has a long way to go match up with the Spurs on defense with San Antonio allowing just 98 points per game last season compared to nearly 107 for Minnesota. There is great excitement with the Wolves this season and if this game was at the Target Center a better debut might be expected but San Antonio is 18-2 S/U in season openers since 1997 while winning eight home openers in a row. The Spurs have been this small of a home favorite in the home opener just once since 1990 as well.

[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]
