Here is a FREE PICK on this week’s NFL schedule from the Green Sheet: #459 Pittsburgh Steelers -10.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars 12:00 PM CT
Given the consistent success for Pittsburgh and the consistent struggles for Jacksonville the series history offers a surprise with a winning mark for the Jaguars head-to-head, including the notable 2017 playoff win. These squads are at the opposite end of the AFC picture but Jacksonville has played three straight competitive games losing by 10, 2 and 4. Last week in Green Bay the Jaguars had the ball across midfield down four before Jake Luton was sacked twice in a row but in two games Luton has had passable results as rookie thrown into a tough situation. Two weeks ago the Steelers needed an epic comeback to beat Dallas with a new quarterback thrown into the fire and last week’s 36-10 result over the rival Bengals was a bit misleading with two early fumbles for Cincinnati digging a hole as the production numbers were relatively close. Baltimore is up next on the schedule on a short week with a Thanksgiving night game ahead as this is a dangerous spot on the schedule for the 9-0 squad that has had seven wins by 10 or fewer points despite two thirds of the schedule coming vs. losing teams. That seems like an obvious trap set-up that might not materialize however. A rookie quarterback going up against this Steelers defense seems likely to set-up some big plays and short-field opportunities for the Steelers and last week’s close result for the Jaguars was a bit misleading with a special teams touchdown.

FREE PICK SUNDAY #464 Jacksonville Jaguars +7 over Houston Texans 12:00 PM CT
Houston has won five in a row in this series and 16 of the past 20 meetings. The only Texans win this season came hosting the Jaguars in October with nearly 500 yards of offense in the first game after Bill O’Brien was fired. That was a six-point game in the fourth quarter before late scoring for Houston on a pair of short-field drives but the Jaguars come out of the bye week on a six-game losing streak and with Gardner Minshew revealing a hand injury. Jake Luton is expected to start for the Jaguars this week, a 6th round draft pick in the spring that had good numbers on a losing Oregon State team last season. He has great size but not much mobility but the primary issues for Jacksonville this season have been on defense. Surprisingly these teams combined for only 20 points through three quarters in the recent meeting before Houston put up 17 in the fourth. Houston is a bigger favorite here than at home a few weeks ago without much valid reasoning. Luton was considered a sleeper in the NFL draft by many teams and not having any film to work with on him in this offense provides him with an advantage in his first action. This is a Houston squad with little to play for and brutal pass defense numbers as a crisp defensive effort from a hugely disappointing team that just shopped several of its key players and has a lame duck interim coach is unlikely.

FREE PICK SATURDAY: #134 Rutgers +13 over Indiana 2:30 PM CT
Greg Schiano certainly carried some baggage but Rutgers hoped he could recreate the rise for the program he delivered in the 2000s. For a program that last won a Big Ten game in 2017, Schiano deliver in Week 1 with an upset over Michigan State and the Knights did what many past Schiano teams have done, stop the run, holding MSU to 1.3 yards per carry. Rutgers didn’t do a lot on offense and getting seven turnovers makes winning much easier. Indiana would normally be a fade squad after a dramatic win over Penn State. The Hoosiers were fortunate in many ways as they were outgained 488-211 while Penn State scored when they could have taken a knee, allowing Indiana a miracle comeback chance. The Hoosiers delivered and ultimately went for and got the win in overtime in close and controversial officiating decision. Michael Penix and Stevie Scott were held in check last week and could be at risk even with a spread that has been cut in half from last season’s shutout in Bloomington. Rutgers also fits this week’s
SYSTEM OF THE WEEK:
PLAY AGAINST: Any NCAA double-digit road favorite that won S/U as a home underdog in the last game.
61-36-3, 62.9% since 1983
PLAY AGAINST: Indiana, Wake Forest, Nevada

FREE PICK SUNDAY:
454 Washington Football Team -1 over Dallas Cowboys 12:00 PM CT
Dallas has won 11 of the past 14 in this series with strong ATS results as well, covering in both meetings last season and going 8-3-1 ATS since 2014. Dallas needed to win in Week 17 last season to have a chance at the division title in the last meeting between these teams and did its part with a lopsided result but Philadelphia also won to take the East crown. Dallas remains a 1st place team despite an embarrassing Monday night performance in the first game started by Andy Dalton. The Cowboys had four turnovers and two early Ezekiel Elliott fumbles were game-changers, resulting in the 14-0 deficit in the second quarter. Washington has lost five straight since winning the opener but they did deliver a significant yardage edge in New York last week, only to fail going for the win late on a two-point conversion. Kyle Allen was adequate at QB and the defense is capable while still playing hard for Ron Rivera despite the challenges this season. Dallas is among the worst run defenses in the NFL allowing 5.1 yards per carry and the short week for a struggling group laden with offensive line injuries looks problematic. Any statistical edges that Dallas may appear to have in comparing these teams can be thrown out the window as Dak Prescott was on pace for record-setting production this season and the drop-off to Dalton is severe. Dalton had strong results in his first five years in the league on decent Bengals teams but since 2016 his record as a starter is 20-36-1, including 2-12 the past two seasons. He has thrown 16 interceptions in 14 games since the start of last season while taking 41 sacks and he now faces a Washington defense with 16 sacks already this season.
Week 5 will not be a conventional NFL week with a few games still in flux but there are some great opportunities on the slate nonetheless.
Nelly’s slipped to 17-11-1 on the season yesterday with a tough day but will hope to rally back Sunday with a 2-for-1 NFL offer with a pair of early picks.

SUNDAY NFL FREE PICK
#261 Minnesota Vikings +3.5 over Houston Texans 12:00 PM CT
The Texans were in command at Pittsburgh with three first half touchdowns but then were shutout in the second half to fall to 0-3. Houston has faced arguably the best three teams in the AFC and shouldn’t be ruled out as a team that can put together a decent season.
A winless Vikings team provides a better opportunity, but Minnesota certainly could have won last week. Justin Jefferson’s breakout game was wasted as Minnesota posted 7.5 yards per play on offense but still did not win. The Vikings rushed for 226 yards on 6.8 yards per rush but struggled on third downs and had a costly missed field goal. Minnesota’s once feared defense only is ahead of Atlanta in defensive scoring this season.
The Vikings are a top five offensive team posting 6.5 yards per play this season however as the Vikings have hopes for a turnaround as well. The shutdown of Minnesota facilities provided a scare early in the week but the Vikings should be at full strength while still catching more than a field goal in this game.
As worked out on Thursday night, in Game 4 matchups of winless teams, the road team is the preference with a 10-4-1 ATS mark going back to 1983. Mike Zimmer has a brilliant record off a loss in his career and the Vikings did enough to cover last week vs. Houston’s superior division rival.
NFL Week 4 started with an entertaining mess of a game between a pair of 0-3 teams while we can’t say for sure when Week 4 will end with the New England/Kansas City contest potentially being pushed to Monday or Tuesday.
Nelly’s turned in a 2-0 Saturday in college football and we are ready to add to a great start to the football season with our next NFL 2/3 GUARANTEE for Sunday – $25. FREE PICK FROM THE GREEN SHEET NEWSLETTER:
#463 LA Rams +2 over Buffalo Bills 12:00 PM CT
One of these squads will leave week 3 with a 3-0 record. Many saw big things ahead for Buffalo but the path for the Bills in the first two weeks was certainly favorable. The Rams have been one of the NFC’s top teams the past three years but were a bit of an afterthought in the loaded NFC West for most. The wins for the Rams have come against high profile foes but both were also NFC East teams that struggled last season. Philadelphia took a depleted roster into last week’s game and turnovers helped the cause. Opponents have rushed successfully against the Rams but so far the Bills have allowed Josh Allen to throw, the current surprise leader in passing yards league-wide so far. The Rams will have to make the trip east in back-to-back weeks as the Covid situation didn’t allow the team to stay on the East coast following last week’s game in Philadelphia. The Rams have some injuries to work around this week but so far have been one of the most impressive performers of the season.
#454 Buffalo Bills -10 over Washington Redskins 12:00 PM CT
In an opportunity to affirm itself as a playoff team the Bills failed miserably hosting the Eagles last week. The schedule remains very favorable as a double-digit win season still looks likely in Buffalo with this week’s game another great opportunity. Washington is off an extended week and the defense has played respectably the past two weeks holding San Francisco and Minnesota to only 28 combined points. Washington is adequate against the run and the Bills seem likely to be kicking field goals often as well. Turning to Dwayne Haskins to start could be a problem as Case Keenum avoided big mistakes against elite defenses to keep Washington in those games and Haskins hasn’t proven that capability. Against Buffalo’s quality defense a big play the other direction seems more than likely. Buffalo isn’t accustomed to this type of pricing but the number is sure to climb even further by kickoff.
#873 UC-Irvine +5 over Oregon 8:40 PM CT
Often times when smaller conference squads pull off a Round of 64 upset they are fade material in the following game. UC-Irvine doesn’t fit that mold however as the Big West champions now have 31 wins and haven’t lost since mid-January. The Anteaters were also a very small underdog against the Big XII co-champion Kansas State on Friday and will actually be an even bigger underdog against Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon Sunday.
Getting a shot at a Pac-12 squad on this stage is very alluring for one of the top defensive teams in the nation, featuring the #5 effective field goal rate defensively nationally, and #1 nationally from 2-point range. That is an ideal trait taking on a Ducks offense that is limited and has minimal 3-point shooting potential. This young Ducks team has momentum with nine straight wins but there is not much quality on that late season run in a very weak Pac-12. Oregon is now in a sixth game in 12 days and there could be a bit of a letdown after Friday’s big win over Wisconsin.
[displayProduct type=”carousel” sort=”nameaz” productnamecolor=”#ffffff” pricecolor=”#ffffff” textcolor=”#ffffff” carousel=image,title,price,button,excerpt]
The Badgers had posted two recent NCAA Tournament wins vs. Oregon and the 18-point final margin was very misleading. Oregon shot 47 percent on 3-point shots while Wisconsin shot 20 percent on 30 3-point attempts. Oregon was crushed on the offensive glass against Wisconsin but was better at the line and had fewer turnovers to pull away. The Ducks won’t have the advantage of being the west coast team in this west coast venue this time and Irvine will be more than comfortable at Oregon’s deliberate pace. Oregon’s front-line won’t have the same success in this matchup and Payton Pritchard had seven turnovers on Friday as really the only backcourt ball handler on the Ducks, he will be liable for more mistakes against a fierce set of perimeter defenders for the Anteaters.
Nelly’s won our 2/3 offer Saturday, now 30-16 in March and 31-13-1 the past 15 Saturdays while on a 30-15 run in NCAA Tournament picks since 2017. We’ve hit 80% on 2* Top Plays this season – get Sunday’s guaranteed 2* for $25 for the Round of 32!
