FREE NFL PICK SUNDAY FROM THIS WEEK’s GREEN SHEET:
#280 Tennessee Titans -7.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars 12:00 PM CT
The Jaguars dealt several stars in the weeks before the season but wound up victors in Week 1. Gardner Minshew had just one incomplete pass while throwing three touchdowns to lead a comeback for the Jaguars. Jacksonville was outgained 445-241 as it was a fortunate result but catching an extra day on the turnaround while the Titans are in Denver late Monday night is a favorable set-up. Tennessee barely won that game with four missed kicks from veteran Stephen Gostkowski to leave 10 points on the field. Derrick Henry compiled solid numbers as Tennessee moved the ball conservatively, posting only 4.8 yards per play. This is a rare favorite price for the Titans but Tennessee did produce several lopsided wins after Ryan Tannehill took over last season. Posting 26 first downs against a top tier defense last week was a solid result and the Titans will be less dependent on the passing game than the Colts had to be last week.

Free MLB Pick – 909/910 UNDER 8.5 Cincinnati Reds (Bauer) at Milwaukee Brewers (Anderson) 7:10 PM CT
After years of unrealized hype, Trevor Bauer has put it all together so far this season with the Reds with eye-popping numbers through four starts, featuring a 14.0 K/9 and a 0.68 ERA. While that pace isn’t sustainable so far working with a .140 BABIP and a 100 percent strand rate, Bauer could remain one of the NL’s top tier starters. A glance at Bauer’s starts shows three lousy AL Central games plus a start vs. the Brewers but drawing that matchup again should mean another strong showing for the outspoken 29-year-old. Bauer struck out 12 Brewers in early August and Milwaukee has had miserable offensive production of late in the midst of a four-game slide. Opposing pitchers have flirted with no-hitters in three recent games vs. Milwaukee and Milwaukee is batting .212 with a .672 OPS in the past two weeks. The season numbers aren’t much better for the Brewers who have had notable struggles vs. right-handed pitching. Despite Bauer starring, the Reds are also just 11-15 as both of these teams have disappointed as the midway point of the season approaches this week. These teams figured to benefit most from the playoff expansion but neither would make the cut right now. Cincinnati has been shut out four times in the past 15 games while the offense has posted a total of 15 runs now six games into the current road trip. In the last week the Reds have a .573 team OPS and Brett Anderson has a decent start against Cincinnati already this season. Anderson made his best start as a Brewer last week vs. a formidable Minnesota lineup and he has allowed only two home runs in 17 innings of work. Both bullpens have had mixed results but still possess high-end arms and both starters look capable of quality starts in this contest.

Free Pick Wednesday – 971/972 UNDER 12.5 Houston Astros (Valdez) at Colorado Rockies (Castellani) 7:40 PM CT
Coor’s Field brings very high
totals but Framber Valdez has been an appealing option on the mound for the
Astros. He filled a vital role for Houston last season as a spot starter and
long reliever and so far in 2020 has a 1.90 ERA in nearly 24 innings. His
strikeout-to-walk numbers are excellent and he has kept the ball in the ballpark
while featuring a great groundball rate. The Rockies have cooled off from a hot
start to the season with losses in five of the last six games and have scored
just 18 runs over the past five games combined. In two games in Houston
Colorado managed only two combined runs and over 20 innings these teams
combined for just six total runs the past two days. Colorado has positive
splits vs. left-handers but overall the Rockies have just a .677 team OPS in
the past six games. After a slow start the Astros have climbed back to AL
contention but it has been with pitching, not with the star-studded offense.
Houston has won six straight games, including the past four by a single run.
The Astros have allowed only seven runs combined in those six games, winning
each of the past four games despite only scoring a total of nine runs. On the
season Houston has a team OPS of only .657 vs. right-handers and they have hit
more home runs vs. lefties this season despite 279 fewer at bats. Ryan
Castellani is making his third MLB start and he is an unlikely candidate to be
in the rotation after a rough season at AAA in 2019. That was a short
injury-riddled campaign however and the 2014 2nd round pick has high-ceiling
stuff. So far in 2020 his ERA is 1.04 with a 10.4 K/9. He has been very
fortunate so far as that isn’t a sustainable pace but he could still provide an
effective start against a Houston lineup that shockingly has a worse team wOBA
than the Royals and Giants. The ‘under’ is 13-9-1 in Rockies games this season
and the move to Denver has brought a four-run swing from yesterday’s game that
finished 2-1 in 11 innings with no runs scored until the 10th inning. Both
teams have great bullpen numbers in the past handful of games including a 0.59
ERA for Houston and the great starting efforts so far in this series leaves
most top relief options available today.

Nelly’s hit an underdog in baseball yesterday and we have another Division pick in the AL tonight.
Free Pick Tuesday: #754 Dallas Mavericks + over Portland Trail Blazers 5:30 PM CT
The Blazers have provided the league’s top offense in the restart, going 4-2 with two games to play. The two losses came vs. the #2 and #3 offensive efficiency teams in the restart and today they will face #4. The Blazers have played themselves into position to be in the 8/9 play-in one way or another sitting in the #9 spot for the moment, a half-game away from #8 while also just a half game ahead of two teams for #10. Needless to say this is a critical game but it won’t be a game Dallas mails in as the spread suggests. The Mavericks are just a game behind Utah and the allure of possibly moving up to #6 and avoiding the Clippers in round one is significant. Dallas rested Kristaps Porzingas and Luka Doncic and still won yesterday. This pick stays at a free pick level due those circumstances but there is a realistic possibility either or both will return today as the Mavericks are likely going to be able to rest in the finale vs. Phoenix Thursday, a game that could mean a great deal for the Suns. Dallas and Utah won’t play the same number of games and the Mavericks will pass Utah with two wins if the Jazz lose their finale to San Antonio, even though Dallas will have more losses and has lost two of three to Utah this season. Portland is getting overpriced here after a very fortunate win over Philadelphia and now facing a third game in four days.
