#698 Robert Morris -12 over Canisius 3:00 PM CT
Canisius is in a major transition season with former Boston College head coach Jim Christian taking over the program. The Golden Griffins were a respectable 14-win team last season but this year’s team is 0-7. Losing to Maryland and Arizona is forgivable for a Metro Atlantic team but Canisius lost those two games by a combined 100 points. Canisius has four losses to teams outside the nation’s top 240 as well including two losses to teams ranked below 315. The shooting numbers have been rough and the interior defense has been among the worst in the nation. Only one starter was with the program last season and this will be a revenge spot for Robert Morris, who lost 87-80 to Canisius on the road last December. Canisius is on the road this season making the trip three hours south to Moon Township with the Colonials riding five straight wins. Robert Morris is 4-0 at home this season with dominant defensive numbers, allowing just 54 points per game. Robert Morris picked up a nice road win at Cornell last week and the rebounding results have been excellent this season. A lopsided loss at West Virginia in the season opener hurts the overall numbers for long time coach Andrew Toole but this year’s team is already halfway to last season’s win count even with several new players with the program.
