Clemson has late season momentum with three straight wins, but it has been a bizarre season of incongruent results for the Tigers. Clemson was outgained 6.6-5.2 yards per play last week but won and covered thanks to a few close calls going their way in a sloppy contest, as the turnover breaks that burned the Tigers early in the season have worked in their favor lately. South Carolina has a decent shot to get a bowl call either way ranking 23rd in the Academic Progress rankings but beating Clemson again to get to 6-6 would be an appealing prospect for the program in what has been a step backward season plagued by injuries after two overachieving campaigns under Shane Beamer. The Gamecocks have also won three straight games, while also catching turnover breaks in last week’s home win over Kentucky, a comeback win with minimal production. Last season’s one-point win required late drama, but South Carolina had a clear production edge and Clemson is a tough team to support as a heavy favorite as this remains an inconsistent and limited offensive team. Clemson does have a quality defense but the Tigers are also accustomed to playing with more on the line late in the season.
