#630 Monmouth +4 over Hofstra 1:00 PM CT
Monmouth won its first two games in CAA play but has now lost four of the past five. All those defeats have been on the road however and the only home loss all season for the Hawks came back on November 18 vs. a very good Princeton team. Monmouth is 7-0 at home since including winning three CAA games all by eight or more points. Monmouth is one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the conference hitting over 37 percent for the season and has solid turnover numbers on both sides of the ball. Hofstra has been one of the worst 3-point defenses in the conference allowing nearly 35 percent beyond the arc. The current 3-0 run to put the Pride above .500 has featured home wins against Hampton and William & Mary, arguably the two worst teams in the conference. Hofstra has only two road wins all season and the winning record in CAA play so far has come through one of the weakest scheduling paths in the league. Monmouth in contrast has faced the most difficult league path seven games into the Colonial race. Hofstra has dominated this series in recent years but after winning 25 games last season, the Pride don’t look like the same caliber team this season despite bringing back good experience and Hofstra may continue to fall short of expectations as the contrasting ATS records suggest with Hofstra 7-12 and Monmouth 13-6-1.
