#660 Washington State -11 over Missouri State 4:00 PM CT
Missouri State had its MVC opener in its last game and lost a tough 80-77 result in a high-profile home game with Indiana State. The Bears led by eight points at one point in the second half but missed 10 free throws. Mozae Downing-Rivers didn’t play in that game, and this is one of the more difficult tests of the season schedule for Missouri State, now 5-4 on the season. This is a long trip to Pullman and Washington State has impressed with an 8-2 start for David Riley. Both losses were against top 50 caliber foes away from home while Washington State has three top 100 wins, including beating Bradley, one of the better MVC teams by 17 points in November at home. Riley is in his first season with Washington State but had success at Eastern Washington and the Cougars are pushing the pace of play while still posting a borderline top 50 defensive efficiency rate. The 3-point defense for Washington State has been fantastic and 3-point shooting is the main strength of the Missouri State offense. The size edge for Washington State should also be significant in this pairing as Missouri State has one of the smallest starting lineups in the nation as Dane Erikstrup and Ethan Price should be in line for success leading the Cougars on Saturday.
