The Saints and Titans both slipped to 7-10 last season after being winning teams in 2021 and the credentials for a rebound season are solid for both teams, with this being potentially a critical game for squads that could teeter on the edge of the playoff picture by season’s end. Derek Carr was brought in a major signing for the Saints who have struggled to replace Drew Brees the past two seasons. New Orleans has lost S/U in its home opener six of the past eight seasons while going 1-7 ATS and while it should be a good season for the Saints through a favorable schedule, Tennessee has a bit more continuity to get the season off to a strong start in the opener as a team that may be overlooked in the AFC picture. Ryan Tannehill was a top 10 QBR quarterback in 2020 and 2021 when he was healthy and the Titans were .500 team with him last season, while going 1-4 without him as Tennessee has a chance to rebound to being a AFC South contender again with this opener a great opportunity given some likely transition struggles for the Saints on offense. Mike Vrabel has started at least 2-2 every season with the Titans for good early season returns even with the memory of Week 1 losses the past two seasons.
