The Wildcats are one of three teams at 11-7 right now, two games behind Purdue as there is a lot at stake still for the Wildcats this week, who look likely to be in the NCAA Tournament this season but might not have the margin to end the season on a five-game slide, with a tough road game ahead this weekend before the Big Ten tournament. Northwestern has four home losses this season and a less impressive statistical profile than its record, but this is a squad that has consistently won close games against quality teams, posting 11 top 100 wins on the season. Penn State has won three of the past four but two of those wins were against teams at the bottom of the conference. The Nittany Lions have only three road wins all season and grade as one of the worst defensive teams in the Big Ten. Penn State does not create turnovers often and is a very poor offensive rebounding team. The Nittany Lions are the stronger outside shooting team in this pairing, but the numbers decline sharply on the road and home court has meant a lot in the recent history of this series with a 7-2 S/U run for hosts. Northwestern is 10-5 ATS as a favorite this season while Penn State has only four ATS road wins all season.
