#648 Providence +6.5 over Marquette 5:00 PM CT

Expectations are high for Marquette this season, but the Golden Eagles have gone just 2-2 in road games with the wins by four and two points as Marquette is -15 in net scoring in road games. Marquette hasn’t been a great outside shooting team at below 33 percent while the interior defense has mediocre results as well, with far worse percentages than last season’s 27-win team that reached the Sweet 16. After a narrow road win at Xavier to start the Big East season, the Golden Eagles haven’t played in 10 days and Marquette lost by 15 at Providence early last season. Marquette beat the Friars at home and won in the matchup in the Big East tournament. Providence has lost six of the past eight games, but it has been a very tough path of games, and four of six losses have come by six or fewer points. The only home loss was a 72-70 result hosting St. John’s in the last game, a game the Friars had a significant lead in most of the way. Providence plays at an ultra-slow pace and has elite defensive numbers with a top 20 effective field goal rate on defense. This is a solid shooting and rebounding team as well and this is much larger spread than any of the recent meetings at Amica Mutual where Providence if 5-0 S/U and ATS since 2020 against Marquette.
