#832 Merrimack +2 over Quinnipiac 1:00 PM CT

Once 11-2 in Metro Atlantic play, Merrimack has lost four of the past five games, bringing the season record down to just 15-14, now at risk of finishing with a sub .500 with two difficult games remaining. The four recent losses have come by a combined total of 11 points and every conference loss this season has come by eight or fewer points including a five-point loss at Quinnipiac in January. Quinnipiac leads the MAAC standings at 14-3 but the Bobcats are built on close wins, including four straight wins by a single-digit final margin. The offensive numbers for the Bobcats are rather mediocre for a conference leader and Merrimack took on a very tough non-conference schedule to skew the overall statistical comparison between these teams. In the first meeting Merrimack was +8 in turnovers in the contest and that should again be a significant advantage for the Warriors who have the best MAAC turnover rate on both sides of the ball. This is a pairing of the top two defenses in the conference and Merrimack is eight percent better defending the 3-point shot in conference play, a key factor given that the Warriors take the highest volume of 3-point attempts in the league. Quinnipiac is just 10-17 ATS this season including riding a 2-7 ATS run in the past nine conference games and Merrimack should have the ability to stall the preferred pace of the Bobcats to deliver a big home win to tighten the conference race heading into the final regular season week.
