#805 Virginia Tech +5 over Ohio State 6:00 PM CT
The Hokies have disappointed this season as well as in most of the Mike Young era but Virginia Tech was sharp in Tuesday’s 16-point win over Richmond and this experienced squad has the look of a serious NIT contender. The Hokies have nine top 100 wins this season including beating Boise State, Clemson, and Iowa State, with two of those high-profile wins coming away from home. Ohio State is on a great late season run but that means inflated pricing on a Buckeyes team that went just 10-12 in Big Ten games this season. Ohio State barely got by Cornell on Tuesday and on the current 8-3 run, half of those wins have come by five or fewer points. Ohio State is just 8-10 ATS at home this season and the Buckeyes haven’t been this big of a favorite vs. a major conference team since a 73-76 home loss to Indiana in early February. In the entire ACC season Virginia Tech was only an underdog of more than five points once. Virginia Tech is nearly five percent better than Ohio State with a 55 percent success rate on 2-point shots while also a stronger 3-point shooting and free throw shooting team. Both defenses have been unreliable but Virginia Tech forces turnovers at a much higher rate than the Buckeyes as well.
