#655 Georgetown -3 over Washington State 10:00 PM CT

David Riley’s first season at Washington State wasn’t a great success, going 19-14, even while trading a Pac-12 schedule for a WCC path. The Cougars went just 4-9 from late January to the exit from the WCC Tournament and ultimately went just 1-9 S/U in games vs. the top 100 teams in the WCC. Early season wins over Bradley, Nevada, and Boise State were solid results, but Riley has lost his best two players Nate Calmese and Lejuan Watts to the transfer portal for a roster that already had to deal with the injury to Cedric Coward. Georgetown competed well in the Big East picking up wins over Creighton and Xavier while losing several close games to finish 8-12 in league play. Thomas Sorber getting hurt late in the season was a big blow and Drew Fielder left the program to leave big holes in the frontcourt. The backcourt remains viable however while Jordan Burks stepped up late in the season with a bigger opportunity. Micah Peavy should be the best player on the court and while the late time slot for the east coast team facing a west coast team may not be ideal, there is good reason that Georgetown remains favored.
