Point Train’s Bowl Game of the Year goes for Thursday – 10-2 run in football Best Bets!
Free Pick Thursday: #752 Pacific +7 over BYU 8:00 PM CT
BYU has won five in a row including notable wins over Creighton and Utah. The Cougars have played just one true road game all season long however and that was an early November loss at San Diego State. BYU is 3-3 in neutral site games but has not even left Provo since narrowly beating Creighton in Las Vegas on December 10. The up-tempo Cougars are a very poor 3-point shooting team connecting at below 30 percent this season but the defense is allowing over 36 percent beyond the arc and the Cougars also have a very high turnover rate, a problematic scenario in the many up-tempo games this group will be involved in. BYU has losses to South Dakota and Utah Valley as holding up well in what should be a very competitive WCC may be a question mark in the coming weeks. Pacific grades as the worst team in the conference right now but that may speak to the strength of the conference. The Tigers have decent top 200 wins over Cal-Davis, Fresno State, and San Jose State and lost by only 10 and 11 points in the toughest two games vs. Stanford and Santa Barbara on the road. Pacific has shot nearly 38 percent from 3-point range at a high volume and has a top 50 turnover rate on offense to have strengths in areas where BYU has struggled. This is a Tigers team with good depth as the up-tempo pace should be managed effectively and Pacific beat BYU in the home meeting last January as this could be a dangerous spot on the schedule for the Cougars.
