#331 Stanford +2.5 over San Jose State 3:00 PM CT
San Jose State last won in this series in 2006, though it has been more than a decade since the last meeting. Both teams had tough losses last week as the Spartans competed well in back-to-back home games vs. the top two MWC teams only to be outscored 45-7 after halftime for an alarming trend for the defense. Stanford had a 21-7 lead vs. rival Cal last week before a tough finish but the Cardinal have played right with quality teams in the last month, scoring at least 21 points in every game and delivering an upset over Louisville. The strength of the schedule gap is massive in favor of the visiting team with Stanford facing a top 15 schedule while San Jose State’s schedule barely cracks the top 100. San Jose State had an excellent run defense early in the season, but those numbers have deteriorated in recent weeks and the Spartans are at risk to lose the ground battle having averaged just 2.2 yards per rush on offense the past three games. Stanford has scored at least 21 points in four straight games and is a team that has played better than its record in many games. San Jose State hasn’t played a major conference game all season and has lost by double-digits against the top two MWC teams. Laying points with the Spartans has resulted in a 7-11 ATS record going back to 2022 and Stanford will want to save face with a win in this local game.
