#120 Central Michigan +11 over Toledo 11:00 AM CT
A good effort from Central Michigan should be expected on Friday. The Chippewas can still reach 6-6 and with an academic progress ranking of #109, 5-7 won’t cut it for a bowl call for this team. Central Michigan is just 3-4 in MAC play but they had a road game at Ohio in the MAC East draw and only one conference loss came by more than two scores. The Chippewas have scored at least 20 points in three straight games and this group battled through a difficult overall schedule with non-conference losses to Michigan State and Notre Dame on the road, plus turning in a road win at South Alabama. In the three MAC home games Central Michigan is 3-0 S/U and Toledo has a more important game on deck. The Rockets were nearly upset at Bowling Green last week and while Toledo is 7-0 in MAC play and headed to the MAC Championship next week, four of the team’s wins in conference play have come by seven or fewer points. Toledo was in a similar situation last season with a MAC title game bid clinched, losing 20-14 in a lackluster performance at Western Michigan on the day after Thanksgiving a year ago despite playing as a road favorite. Toledo is just 2-7 ATS since the start of last season as a road favorite including three S/U losses and the AAC teams are in a stronger position for the top Group of 5 bid as Toledo doesn’t have a significant incentive this week. Toledo’s last trip to Mt. Pleasant was also a S/U loss with an overtime defeat in 2021 as a road favorite, which was the second straight S/U loss for the Rockets on the road in this series.
