#527 San Antonio Spurs +13 over New Orleans Pelicans 7:10 PM CT
The Pelicans enter this game off a 10-point win over Philadelphia on Wednesday. New Orleans has a game in Chicago tomorrow before the in-season tournament contest Monday in Sacramento as this could easily be an overlooked game on the schedule. New Orleans has an uneven 10-9 record through a home-heavy path with New Orleans 7-4 in home games on the season. The Spurs have struggled with a 3-15 record but San Antonio has also faced the #2 rated schedule in the NBA with 12 of 18 games played vs. the top half of the league. Victor Wembanyama is a question mark tonight, but he has played in every game this season and seems likely to suit up if possible. His uncertainty will lead to some challenges in preparation for the Pelicans as well. The Spurs are on a long 13-game losing streak but eight of the past 10 losses have come by 12 or fewer points. The Spurs have two S/U road wins this season and have scored 112 or more points in each of the past three games. The backcourt is thin for the Pelicans even with CJ McCollum’s recent return as Jose Alvarado and Trey Murphy are likely to miss this game while only two of 10 wins for New Orleans all season have come by double-digit margins. This is not likely a spot on the schedule where the Pelicans will be at their best while going on the road and potentially playing without Wembanyama may not be the worst outcome for this group in the short term in what has clearly been a transition season of adjustment with the roster changes.
