#907/908 UNDER 8 St. Louis Cardinals (Gray) at Milwaukee Brewers (Rea) 6:40 PM CT
The Cardinals won in 12 innings last night with a 7-4 result despite it being 3-3 through nine innings. There were only 14 combined hits in the game and while both bullpens were emptied, the key relievers mostly had short outings outside of Ryan Helsley throwing 27 pitches. There were only 13 combined hits in Monday’s game despite 12 runs as this has been a much higher scoring series than the offensive output has deserved so far this week. Sonny Gray has delivered in a strong season for the Cardinals even with a few recent hiccups. His road numbers are much worse than his home splits, but he should be counted on for a quality outing tonight. Colin Rea has pitched a bit above his head with a 3.70 ERA next to a 4.60 FIP but he has 12 wins and a low walk rate. The first two games in this series projected to go ‘under’ and deserved to go ‘under’ but wound up higher scoring games. While Milwaukee has been a great ‘over’ team on the season, this final meeting with the rival Cardinals should be more likely to provide a tense lower scoring outcome.
