Nelly’s had a 2-0 Tuesday in MLB – check out daytime action for Wednesday!

Free Pick Wednesday: #963 Los Angeles Angels (Ohtani) -170 over Seattle Mariners (Flexen) 3:10 PM CT

Obviously backing Shohei Ohtani commands a premium but the superstar is worth the cost Wednesday afternoon as the Angels look to bounce back after an 11-2 result last night. Seattle had a lot of things go right Tuesday getting 11 runs on 13 hits while Luis Castillo was impressive on the mound. The Mariners still struck out nine times and the Angels went 1-10 with runners in scoring position to prevent a more competitive contest. Seattle has the fifth worst team batting average in MLB at .218 despite last night’s outburst while the Angels are +12 in run differential so far this season compared with the Mariners in the small early sample even with a nine-run swing yesterday. Chris Flexen has red flags galore as an overachiever for Seattle in 2021 and 2022 and his career FIP is 4.64. He struggled with walks in his 2023 debut and had only one strikeout in four innings vs. a light hitting Cleveland lineup. Even in a lopsided win with their best starter yesterday, the Mariners still used four top relievers while the Angels were able to get through the game with only two pitchers for an advantage in this short turnaround for the series finale Wednesday afternoon.
