#904 Milwaukee Brewers -105 over San Diego Padres 12:10 PM CT
A bullpen game isn’t a bad thing for a Brewers relief unit that has been excellent this season including a 2.11 ERA in the past five games. Milwaukee has dropped three games in a row to slip to 10-6 but the bullpen needed only two pitchers on Monday before using most of the team’s primary relievers yesterday. Bryse Wilson pitched three innings in his last appearance and should be expected to have a similar outing today and he has a 10.4 K/9 this season and has pitched extremely well since allowing two runs in his first appearance of 2024. Michael King is 2-0 for San Diego with a 4.19 ERA but his FIP is 7.33 and he has a 6.1 BB/9 this season. King has allowed six home runs in just over 19 innings this season even while pitching in favorable pitching ballparks in every appearance on the season. King had a 2.75 ERA last season for the Yankees but primarily as a reliever and he has only 22 career starts. Milwaukee has the third most home runs in baseball right now and is hitting .285 as a team. The Brewers have 16 hits in the first two games of this series despite only six runs, going just 4-18 with runners in scoring position. In the past 10 games Milwaukee has hit .301 with 7.7 runs per nine vs. right-handers and while the Padres have also been a successful offensive team so far this season, they fall short of Milwaukee’s splits. San Diego has also had marginal relief pitching this season with a 4.37 season ERA with San Diego pitching allowing at least three runs in eight of the past nine games. Milwaukee has scored at least three runs in every game this season compared to a boom-or-bust Padres lineup that has been held to two or fewer runs seven times already.
