#965 Cleveland Guardians (Bibee) -110 over Kansas City Royals (Singer) 6:40 PM CT

Cleveland won 4-2 last night in Kansas City as the Guardians have opened the AL Central lead back to 3.5 games over Minnesota and 4.5 games over Kansas City. The Royals have dropped six in a row and are fortunate that Boston is also slumping to keep Kansas City in a favorable wild card position. Brady Singer has a 3.36 ERA this season, but the Royals have lost four of his last five starts as August was a disappointing month with Singer posting a 5.53 ERA. His strikeout and walk numbers were still excellent but he allowed 39 hits over five starts spanning just over 27 innings. Kansas City has a 7-4 edge in this season series that will conclude tomorrow but the Royals have been cold at the plate with five straight games without topping three runs, batting just .157 vs. right-handers. Tanner Bibee has been a terrific starter for the Guardians this season with a 3.65 ERA and a 3.55 FIP. His K/9 is 9.8 with a 2.2 BB/9 and he has been a far better pitcher in his road starts with a 2.81 ERA in nearly 74 innings. His numbers have been even better since the All-Star Break and while he was hit hard vs. the Royals last week, he had a quality start for a win at Kauffman Stadium in June. Cleveland appears to have the momentum back in the division race and Bibee has been more reliable than Singer in recent weeks while the bullpen edge for the Guardians has been significant all season.
