#953/954 OVER 8 Colorado Rockies (Gomber) at Washington Nationals (Herz) 5:45 PM CT

The Rockies have scored at least three runs in nine consecutive games and while the totals for Colorado are boosted by Coors Field, 16 of the past 23 Colorado road games have featured at least eight runs, with an average of over 9.9 runs per game. The recent splits for both teams have been poor against lefthanders but Austin Gomber and DJ Herz don’t offer the proven quality of most of the recent starters faced by these teams. Gomber has worse numbers away from Coors Field with a 5.16 road ERA while Herz has displayed strikeout potential, he has a 1.6 HR/9 this season in his 55 innings of work. Both bullpens have struggled with a 5.59 season ERA for Rockies relievers with a 1.58 WHIP while Washington has only slightly better numbers for the season. Washington pitching has allowed at least four runs in seven of the past 10 games plus 10 of the past 13 home games. Washington has featured a capable offense this season but is coming off facing Baltimore and Philadelphia in the last road trip, facing several quality starters to bring down the recent success rates. The ‘over’ is 14-8-2 in Washington home games since July 1 and 14-8-1 in Colorado road games since late June.
