#972 Houston Astros (Wesneski) +100 over San Francisco Giants (Webb) 7:10 PM CT

After taking two of three hosting the Mets in low-scoring close games, the Astros lost 7-2 in the opener with the Giants at Minute Maid Park Monday with a three-run home run in the sixth inning, a game-changer in what had been on-pace to be another low-scoring game. Wilmer Flores has been the power source for the Giants near the bottom of the lineup in a 3-1 start but the top of the lineup for San Francisco has struggled so far. Houston is getting production from Jose Altuve but the rest of the lineup has endured a slow start. There are proven hitters on the roster as the Astros should as usual be an above average offensive team, even without Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker. San Francisco had to use four relivers last night even after getting a brilliant 6-inning start from Jordan Hicks. Logan Webb will make his second turn in the rotation after a marginal opening day start for the Giants, allowing three runs and six hits in five innings vs. the Reds. Webb was a top NL starter in 2021 and 2022 but has been much closer to average the past two seasons with his K/9 hitting a career low last season. This will be the season and Astros debut for Hayden Wesneski who has started 22 games for the Cubs the past three seasons with solid results. His career K/9 is approaching 8.7 and he was a valuable part of the Tucker trade last winter, even if he was overshadowed by Cam Smith and Isaac Paredes in the deal. One can expect that the bullpen will be a strength for Houston this season and this is an appealing price on the Astros who went 46-35 at home last season and had the second best run differential in the American League.
