#912 Minnesota Twins (Woods Richardson) -125 over Tampa Bay Rays (Littell) 12:10 PM CT
Minnesota had numerous opportunities to pull away from Tampa Bay in last night’s 3-2 loss, consistently getting leadoff runners on base but winding up 1-10 with runners in scoring position in the game. The Twins ultimately lost in 10 innings due to a throwing error, but this remains a team on a great run of offensive success, averaging 7.5 runs per nine in the past 10 games with more than 12 hits per game on average. In that span the Rays are batting just .215 as a team and last night was the seventh time in the past 10 games Tampa Bay failed to top three runs. Zack Littell made his MLB debut with the Twins back in 2018 and he will reach a career high in starts today with his 15th of the season. Littell has good command, but rather average numbers and he has just a 34 percent groundball rate now facing a Twins lineup that has displayed significant power potential in recent weeks with 23 home runs already in June, the fifth most in MLB. Simeon Woods Richardson is only 23 years old, but he has made the most of his opportunities this season with a 3.29 ERA in 11 starts for Minnesota. The bullpen advantage is clearly with Minnesota in the recent splits and in a situation where both teams used significant relief pitching last night. Tampa Bay is only 10-21 vs. winning teams this season despite getting a win last night and the Rays are also only 23-32 vs. right-handed starters this season.
