#905 Philadelphia Phillies (Sanchez) -120 over Chicago Cubs (Taillon) 1:20 PM CT
The Phillies will go for a sweep at Wrigley Field, looking to add to MLB’s best record before a big showcase series in the AL East this weekend in Atlanta, then facing a high-profile series with the Dodgers. J.T. Realmuto, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber all sit on the IL but the lineup continues to produce with 5.5 runs per nine vs. right-handers in the past 10 games, hitting .284 as a team. Chicago’s lineup has been ice cold vs. left-handers with just 1.7 runs per nine in the past 10 games. The Cubs may have buyer’s remorse on Craig Counsell as a promising first month of the season has torpedoed into a 21-36 run since May 1 with the Cubs 2-8 in the past 10 games. Chicago has failed to top five runs in 10 straight games, but the pitching staff has allowed at least five runs in six of those games. Jamerson Taillon has a 3.03 ERA for Chicago but with a FIP nearly a run higher than that and a low K/9 of just above 7.0. Opposing Taillon is Cristopher Sanchez who has a 2.38 FIP this season and has incredibly allowed just one home run in over 93 innings this season. Sanchez had a 1.64 ERA in 33 innings in June as few starters in the NL have been better in recent weeks, while the Cubs are 5-12 vs. left-handed starters on the season.
