#955 San Francisco Giants (Webb) -110 over New York Mets (Manaea) 12:40 PM CT
It has been a wild late May run for the Giants, winning eight of the past nine games and playing in extra-innings in three of the past five games alongside two other one-run finishes. San Francisco is now above .500 and while the bullpen has been taxed in the past week, Logan Webb is a starter capable of delivering a long successful outing on Sunday to close this road trip with another win. Webb’s career numbers benefit from pitching in San Francisco with significantly worse numbers on the road, but he has been in a great form in his last few starts including a quality road start on Tuesday. San Francisco’s lineup has crushed left-handed pitching on the recent run of success including the team batting .354 in the past 10 games vs. southpaws. Sean Manaea is on the mound for the slumping Mets, and Manaea has a suspicious 3.11 ERA. His xFIP is 4.68 and he is on pace for his worst K/9 since 2020. He also has the highest walk rate of his career so far this season while getting away with a HR/9 that is about a third of his career average. Manaea surprisingly has worse numbers this season at Citi Field in his first season with the Mets and he pitched for the Giants last season as the San Francisco lineup knows what to expect. New York’s bullpen has been pressed in recent games as well and owns a 6.35 ERA with a 1.76 WHIP in the past 10 games and while five San Francisco relievers pitched yesterday, four threw 18 or fewer pitches and the late inning plan for the Mets is in flux with another blown save from Edwin Diaz yesterday.
