#966 Seattle Mariners (Miller) EVEN over Baltimore Orioles (Bradish) 3:10 PM CT
Seattle’s pitching staff allowed only four hits last night but wound up with a tough 1-0 defeat. The Mariners wound up 0-10 with runners in scoring position in the shutout loss as there were plenty of opportunities for a Seattle offense that has been very productive in recent weeks. Seattle is 25-11 since July 1 to stay relevant in the AL Wild Card race while still only 6.5 games out of the AL West lead despite the great season Texas is having. In 22 of the past 24 games the Mariners have scored at least three runs as yesterday’s outcome was rare. Kyle Bradish is having a good season in the Baltimore rotation but his FIP is more than a half-run higher than his ERA. His BABIP is low and his strand rate is high as a lot has gone right for Bradish while he will likely reach a career high in innings for a single MLB season today. Bradish has a 2.18 ERA at home but a 4.06 ERA on the road for a clear distinction. Bryce Miller has been a bit erratic but in nine of his 16 starts he has allowed one or zero runs for a significant upside. The Orioles are in a cooling pattern at the plate batting just .193 in the past five games while the recent bullpen splits for the Mariners have also been excellent with a 1.23 ERA in the past 10 games. After a fortunate win yesterday, getting another win in Seattle will be difficult for the Orioles Sunday.
