#961 Detroit Tigers (Olson) -110 over Boston Red Sox (Criswell)

Detroit has scored five runs per nine vs. right-handed pitching in the past 10 games and the Tigers are 4-2 in the past six games with a combined total of 34 runs scored. These teams have split the past two days now sitting with nearly identical records in the AL picture. Reese Olson has been incredibly effective this season in 10 starts with his ERA down to 1.92 and while he has been fortunate with just one home run allowed this season, he has now turned in six straight starts allowing no more than two runs and no more than five hits. Cooper Criswell had a few nice starts in April, but his current trajectory has been negative, and he has not posted a quality start all season. Criswell has a 7.00 ERA in the past four starts and the Boston bullpen has struggled in recent games, including a 5.74 ERA in the past five games. Detroit has struggled in the bullpen of late as well but the but the starting efforts in the last week have been decent and having two off days Monday and Tuesday has helped to reset the group even with a double-header on Wednesday. Detroit has allowed one or zero runs in three of the past six games and while the Tigers lack a good record in Olson starts, he is the much stronger option in this pairing of former 13th round picks. Boston is only 12-16 in home games and the Red Sox went just 12-16 in May after a strong month in April.
