#901/902 UNDER 7.5 St. Louis Cardinals (Pallante) at Milwaukee Brewers (Peralta) 1:10 PM CT
Milwaukee took a tough 11-inning loss on Sunday to fall short of a four-game sweep in Cincinnati. The Brewers allowed four or fewer runs for the sixth consecutive game however and will have Freddy Peralta on the mound in St. Louis Monday with Milwaukee sitting with an 11-game lead over the Cardinals in the NL Central as the season’s final month gets underway. Peralta is the most well-established starter for the Brewers and while much of the season he was falling short of his career norms, he has turned in back-to-back scoreless outings including a scoreless start in St. Louis in late August. Since the All-Star Break Peralta has a 2.78 ERA while August was his best month statistically. Milwaukee has one of the best bullpens in MLB and the St. Louis offense has been held to four or fewer runs in six of the past nine games despite the 14-run explosion in New York on Sunday. Andre Pallante has solid numbers for the Cardinals with a season ERA of 3.80 and he has allowed only six home runs in over 92 innings of work this season. Over his last four starts his ERA is 2.13 and he has a 3.29 ERA since the All-Star Break while he has stronger road splits for the season. These teams have averaged just 8.2 runs per game in 10 meetings this season and these teams could face some fatigue Monday with St. Louis facing travel after Sunday’s big win while the Brewers had a double-header Friday before tense games Saturday and Sunday including going 11 innings yesterday.
