#233 Oklahoma -1.5 over Navy 11:00 AM CT

Oklahoma didn’t score in the only meeting between these teams historically, a 10-0 loss back in 1965. 6-6 seasons usually are considered disastrous for Oklahoma, but the late season win over Alabama saved some face in an otherwise difficult transition season to the SEC for the Sooners. A lot of players are on the move including quarterback Jackson Arnold and several receivers as it could be a very thin group for the Sooners in Fort Worth. The defense still has most of the players in the transfer portal still on the bowl depth chart and could remain a quality unit that can control this game. Navy had an uneven season as while there were only three losses, they came by significant margins down the stretch. Navy beat Army two weeks ago for a great finish to the regular season but having ample time to prepare for the Midshipmen is an advantage for Oklahoma’s defense and in the toughest games Navy did have turnover issues including six turnovers against Notre Dame and two more while posting 113 yards of offense against Tulane. Navy has a strong recent bowl track record going 5-1 S/U and 6-0 ATS in bowls since 2013 including three wins vs. P4 programs as the Midshipmen will attract support in this game. The disparity in strength of schedule is massive however and Brent Venables is still looking for his first bowl win as the Sooners may do just enough at a price that would not usually be the expectation between these programs. Finishing above .500 would be a small measure of accomplishment for the Sooners in a challenging season with the program needing to keep pace now in the ultra-difficult SEC.
