#632 Tulsa -2.5 over Temple 7:00 PM CT

Tulsa has lost the past three games to slide to 5-11 in AAC play, including taking a tough home loss Saturday by two points against Tulane. Tulsa did win at Temple in mid-February, and this is the home finale for Erik Konkol’s third season, facing a significant step backwards after a 16-win campaign last season. Tulsa could still move up in the AAC standings while Temple has a much worse recent trajectory than the 7-9 league record suggests. The Owls are 3-8 in the past 11 games with two of those wins coming in overtime and Wednesday’s win over South Florida coming by just two points. Jamal Mashburn has missed six of the team’s last seven games with Temple 1-5 in those games while Quinte Berry has missed the past two games as well as a shorthanded backcourt for the Owls looks likely. Tulsa won the first meeting on the road with Berry and Mashburn scoring 35 points while Temple had a 19-10 edge in made free throws. Tulsa had a huge advantage scoring inside in that game and was stronger beyond the arc as well. Temple has only two road wins all season long and only a 73-70 win at Rice in early January came in conference play. Temple did beat Memphis in January as well for a result that continues to surprise at this point in the season, but Tulsa is in solid recent form, covering in 60% of the past 10 games through a tough late season schedule that has included many of the better AAC teams visiting Tulsa. Temple has faced a weaker overall AAC path than Tulsa and stopping the losing streak in the last game should provide a measure of relief as the Owls will likely prioritize getting healthy for the AAC tournament after Adam Fisher’s team made a great run winning four games in four days before falling to UAB in the tournament final last March.
