#834 Siena +5 over Quinnipiac 1:00 PM CT

Siena is only 4-6 in MAAC play but the Saint have faced the #1 rated schedule in the conference so far. Siena has two one-point losses and five of six losses in conference play have come by six or fewer points. The exception was an ugly 72-53 loss at Quinnipiac in early January. That game followed a double-overtime home win and a one-point home loss for a letdown spot on the schedule, and it was the first game without Marcus Jackson. Siena has adjusted to some roster challenges and should be a threat to get above .500 by the end of the MAAC season. Quinnipiac is up to 9-1 in conference play including six straight wins starting with the win over Siena January 10. The past two wins have been home wins against the bottom of the league while wins by one and five points are included in the winning streak, with four of those six games at home. The Bobcats are 5-7 S/U in road games for the season and Quinnipiac is a surprising conference leader as this is a poor shooting team, 9th in the conference in both effective field goal rate and 3-point percentage. The defensive success rates are partly built on the schedule and a few dominant performances at home. Despite the contrasting league records, Siena is 13-7-1 ATS this season while Quinnipiac is 8-12 ATS. This should be a big game for Siena with four consecutive losses in a series they used to control. The Saints could be a late season riser with a team that entered the season with little experience and a first-year head coach in former Syracuse start Gerry McNamara. The offensive numbers have been dramatically worse for Quinnipiac this season compared to Tom Pecora’s first season in Hamden last year as it doesn’t add up that this is the team to beat in the MAAC this season despite the current record.
