Long Beach State has dropped five of the past six games to fall to 3-5 in Big West play. The Beach do have four road wins in this season and the recent slide has included games vs. some of the top contenders in the conference. Despite the losing record Long Beach State has the #1 effective field goal rate in the conference and is the top 3-point shooting team. Cal Poly is winless in Big West play and the Mustangs just allowed 101 points in the last game. A long layoff could help Cal Poly regroup but this is a team with some of the worst shooting numbers in the conference despite Mike DeGeorge’s up-tempo offense in what is proving to be a difficult transition season. The Mustangs have four home losses in conference play and the last regular season conference win for Cal Poly was December 29, 2022, a run of 46 consecutive defeats.
