This could be a tough spot for Oregon State facing a second straight road game after a tough one-point loss at Santa Clara on Thursday. The Beavers in the move to the WCC are 2-2 so far but they are 0-2 in road games in conference play and 0-3 in road games for the season. The 6-13 record for Pacific doesn’t look appealing but the Tigers took on a difficult non-conference schedule that included several major conference road losses. The WCC path also has included Saint Mary’s and San Francisco already with competitive losses in those games before the breakthrough win vs. Washington State on Thursday night on the road. Oregon State has a far better statistical profile, but the Beavers have drawn an easier path so far and the deliberate pace of play from Wayne Tinkle’s team can make the Beavers a risky heavy favorite. Oregon State often has a size edge, but Pacific has good height in the lineup, particularly with tall guards in the backcourt. Oregon State has been one of the worst free throw shooting and offensive rebounding teams in the WCC so far; while rarely creating turnovers and a few extra opportunities should keep Pacific in this game.
