#263 Tennessee Titans +11.5 over Detroit Lions 12:00 PM CT

The Lions have never defeated the Titans, last beating the franchise as the Oilers back in 1995. The Lions won last week’s huge game with the Vikings in a close call and then watched Minnesota take another loss to start Week 8, as Detroit controls its destiny in the NFC with the top record at 5-1. The Lions have been a strong ATS performer under Dan Campbell and riding a 4-0 S/U and ATS run the Lions will be a favorite of more than 10 points for the first time since 1996. The 1-5 Titans may deserve this valuation, but three losses have come in one-score games. The Titans had significant turnover and special teams challenges in the 0-3 start with a -7 turnover margin in those three games, while outgaining both the Bears and Jets in close losses. Will Levis was the cause of many of those turnovers and it appears that Mason Rudolph is likely to start again for the Titans, without a major difference between his numbers and those for Levis but with more experience and a lower turnover risk. Last week’s game with Buffalo was a one-score game at the start of the 4th quarter despite the 24-point final as Tennessee has been more competitive than the record suggests through what rates as the #3 schedule in the NFL, already facing four top half teams. Both teams will be missing players due to injuries and a suspension, but this should be a dangerous game for the Lions coming off road wins over Dallas and Minnesota and with a huge division game in Green Bay next on the schedule Thursday in Week 9.
