#917/918 OVER 8.5 Texas Rangers (Heaney) at Chicago White Sox (Crochet) 7:10 PM CT

Texas is 4-0 vs. the White Sox this season but this will be the first meeting in Chicago. It will be one of the warmer nights of the year in Chicago with a first pitch temperature in the mid-90s and high humidity. Rain is possible as delays could impact the pitching program and neither starter has been reliable of late. Andrew Heaney has 13 losses this season even though his numbers are not that different from last season when he was a consistent starter on the World Series champions. Heaney has struggled away from Arlington this season with a 4.41 ERA and opponents hitting .276 against him while his ERA since the All-Star break is 4.72. Garrett Crochet’s injury-plagued career finally delivered a breakthrough in the first half of this season but that led to Crochet’s camp making significant trade deadline demands as the White Sox ultimately couldn’t move him. Crochet hasn’t been as sharp since with a 7.27 ERA in his last five starts with a 6.05 FIP. His last two home starts have been disastrous with 15 hits and 12 runs allowed in just over five innings. The White Sox have a 5.90 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP from their bullpen in the past 10 games with the pitching staff allowing 33 runs so far just four games into this home stand. Texas has faced quality pitching in the past three series and the Rangers have preferable splits vs. left-handers with a team OPS 20 points higher for the season than vs. right-handers. A two-inning start on Saturday could still impact the Texas bullpen in this series while the ‘over’ is 12-2-1 in the past 15 Texas road games and 10-4-1 in the last 15 Chicago home games.
