Nelly’s is on a 12-4 MLB run as part of a great start to the 2024 season – check out tonight’s pick!
#911/912 UNDER 8.5 Texas Rangers (Urena) at Oakland Athletics (Stripling) 2:37 PM CT
Texas won 4-2 last night in Oakland, even after failing to score in the first seven innings. Oakland’s bullpen has been excellent for the season but didn’t get the job done on Monday as a strong start from Alex Wood was wasted. Both teams have had excellent pitching in the past 10 games and eight of the past 10 meetings between these teams have featured eight or fewer runs. Texas pitching has allowed four or fewer runs in eight of the past 10 games, but the Rangers have only topped four runs on offense three times in that run. Oakland has allowed four or fewer runs in seven of the past 10 games as well but has been held to four or fewer runs in four of the past five games. Jose Urena takes the mound for the Rangers as mostly an opener tonight but with significant previous starting experience. This will be his first start of 2024, but he has pitched at least three innings three times this season with capable results, allowing fewer hits than innings pitched. Ross Stripling has pitched better than his 1-5 record suggests, and his career track record is a solid one. After a tough start to 2024 he has allowed three or fewer runs while pitching at least five innings in each of his last four starts. Both teams have had their total results lean ‘under’ this season and another lower scoring game looks possible Tuesday afternoon.
