#102 Appalachian State -5 over Coastal Carolina 6:30 PM CT

Coastal Carolina went 22-4 in Sun Belt games under Jamey Chadwell from 2020-2022 but the Chanticleers are 0-2 this season with 68 points allowed in a pair of double-digit losses. Grayson McCall had posted historically great numbers at quarterback over those three seasons, but his results have fallen off a cliff this season, posting a yards per attempt average 2.0 yards worse than his career average while being sacked 10 times already this season. McCall has six interceptions this season in 168 attempts after throwing a total of eight in nearly 800 attempts the previous three seasons. Tim Beck has solid credentials coaching at Ohio State and Texas, but it appears to be a significant transition season while this will be a difficult second straight road game. Appalachian State is just 3-2 this season but the losses came on the road in one-score games against North Carolina and Wyoming, teams that are a combined 10-1 with impressive resumes. The Mountaineers have played only two home games and scored 88 points in those games. The host has won the past four years in this series and in Boone, Appalachian State is 35-5 S/U since 2017. Joey Aguilar has a stronger QB Rating than McCall and the Mountaineers have already eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing this season. Appalachian State has struggled in its run defense so far this season but allowing 319 rushing yards in the overtime loss to the Tar Heels inflates those figures.
