#922 Toronto Blue Jays (Bassitt) -150 over San Francisco Giants (TBD – Walker/Winn) 6:07 PM CT
The Giants have played great baseball since mid-May but a rash of pitching injuries in the past few weeks is starting to take a toll, losing Alex Cobb, Luke Jackson, John Brebbia, and Scott Alexander all within a 10-day span. Adding to the challenges is Michael Conforto having to leave last night’s game while ace Logan Webb was rocked last night, though he and Ross Stripling managed to save most of the bullpen by gutting out the losing effort. Ryan Walker has opened four games in the past two weeks and has allowed runs in two of those four outings. He’ll likely start tonight before the Giants will likely turn to Keaton Winn, who has allowed runs in all three of his MLB appearances. Sean Manaea, who has been used sparingly in recent weeks while posting very poor season numbers will be another option for the depleted pitching staff. San Francisco’s lineup has gone cold of late batting just .224 in the past 10 games compared to Toronto batting .272 in that span. Chris Bassitt has overall been a disappointment for Toronto as a free agent acquisition, but he has pitched well at the Rogers Centre with a 2.72 ERA and two terrible road starts are hiding five scoreless quality starts this season, as Bassitt still has a high ceiling. After being evenly priced last night the Blue Jays may be facing a bit of inflated price tonight but should remain at an advantage after outhitting San Francisco 12-6 in last night’s 6-1 win.
