Happy Thanksgiving

All the best to you and your families in this Thanksgiving season.

Today’s NFL and college schedule has been reduced from the standard holiday card but we do have offers from Bobby Dalton and the Big E for Thursday.

A big Friday in college football is ahead with many of those releases coming later today.

College Hoops Starts Today!

Bobby Dalton and the Big E are ready to go with opening day picks in college basketball on Wednesday. Give either a shot to start 1-0 tonight!

Bobby Dalton started last season 6-1 and he has an opening Tip Off pick tonight for $14.

Big E was sitting with over 100* of profit last March when the season shut down and his first Biggie of the season will be ready to go Wednesday.

Nelly’s Basketball will likely start our season in early-to-mid December but we hope to post a few free picks to ease into the season in the next two weeks. Nelly’s has turned in three straight seasons of huge profits in basketball including going 26-14 in December 2019 picks.

NFL Week 11 – Big 15* Picks

Just in from Bobby Dalton is a 15* Best Bet for Sunday night with a huge opportunity on the schedule! Dalton had a positive day yesterday led by a 10* Best Bet win on Northwestern’s big upset and he is ready to deliver another big day in the NFL! His last 15* in the NFL was a blowout as Pittsburgh crushed Cleveland 38-7!

The Big E looks for a Sunday bounce back while looking to reach 3-0 in his NFL 15* Game of the Month selections!

Nelly’s is 8-1 the last three Saturdays in college football with another winning 2/3 yesterday. We’ll look to get in a big Sunday as well with three selections for Week 11 in this week’s 2/3!

Maximum Sports won 2 out of 3 yesterday with two 5* wins and he is ready to deliver at least a 60% day in Sunday’s 5-Pack!

Point Train’s fine season hit a skid Saturday including a very tough luck result in his 10-unit total, a game that was well on pace to win at halftime before turnovers and injuries added up. Point Train is on an 18-11 NFL run since Week 3 and looks to bounce back with a 3-game offer on Sunday:

Here is a FREE PICK on this week’s NFL schedule from the Green Sheet: #459 Pittsburgh Steelers -10.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars 12:00 PM CT

Given the consistent success for Pittsburgh and the consistent struggles for Jacksonville the series history offers a surprise with a winning mark for the Jaguars head-to-head, including the notable 2017 playoff win. These squads are at the opposite end of the AFC picture but Jacksonville has played three straight competitive games losing by 10, 2 and 4. Last week in Green Bay the Jaguars had the ball across midfield down four before Jake Luton was sacked twice in a row but in two games Luton has had passable results as rookie thrown into a tough situation. Two weeks ago the Steelers needed an epic comeback to beat Dallas with a new quarterback thrown into the fire and last week’s 36-10 result over the rival Bengals was a bit misleading with two early fumbles for Cincinnati digging a hole as the production numbers were relatively close. Baltimore is up next on the schedule on a short week with a Thanksgiving night game ahead as this is a dangerous spot on the schedule for the 9-0 squad that has had seven wins by 10 or fewer points despite two thirds of the schedule coming vs. losing teams. That seems like an obvious trap set-up that might not materialize however. A rookie quarterback going up against this Steelers defense seems likely to set-up some big plays and short-field opportunities for the Steelers and last week’s close result for the Jaguars was a bit misleading with a special teams touchdown.

FREE PICK SATURDAY #415 Tennessee +10.5 over Auburn 6:00 PM CT

Jeremy Pruitt’s first significant win was an upset at Auburn two years ago but it isn’t clear how many more wins he’ll be leading for the Volunteers. A 2-0 start has been spoiled to 2-4 with the Volunteers unable to top 21 points in four straight losses by double-digit margins. These teams didn’t play last season and Auburn has won six straight in the series prior to the home loss two years ago. Rumors are swirling around both head coaches even with Auburn 4-2 and with a great opportunity ahead next week. Malzahn has never lost the game before facing Alabama though some of those wins were vs. FCS foes. This feels like a more critical game for Pruitt and the Volunteers given the current slide. Auburn’s convincing win over LSU featured some big breaks and the Tigers have been an unreliable offensive team for the most part this season.

4th Quarter Covers + MNF

Don’t miss picks for a big game in the NFC North tonight between Minnesota and Chicago. Nelly’s is 5-2 for the week heading into MNF, Big E won his 25* Saturday, Dalton had a 3-1 Saturday, and Point Train hit a NFL Top Play Sunday!

Here are a few of the 4th Quarter Covers from last week in college football:

North Carolina (-13) 59, Wake Forest 53 (71): As a double-digit underdog Wake Forest scored back-to-back touchdowns before halftime to lead 35-24 in Chapel Hill and then added the first 10 points of the second half to lead by 21 points. The underdog cover proved not to be safe however as the Tar Heels took over in the 4th quarter, eventually taking a 52-45 lead with about four minutes to go. Wake Forest had to go for it on 4th down in their own territory and handed North Carolina a short field and suddenly a 14-point lead had North Carolina past the favorite spread with just over two minutes remaining with five consecutive touchdowns. Wake Forest would convert a 3rd-and-18 for a 46-yard gain and eventually found the end zone inside the final minute, getting a two-point conversion for the six-point final and deserved underdog cover in a game that nearly reached 1,350 combined yards.

Miami, FL (+2) 25 Virginia Tech 24 (68): The Hokies led 14-3 early in this old Big East rivalry but Miami was able to score 10 points in the final five-plus minutes before halftime. The Hokies regrouped at the break and scored the first 10 points of the second half to again go up by 11 points as a slight home favorite. Cam’Ron Harris converted a 4th down and then hit the end zone toward the end of the third quarter to put the Hurricanes within five. Miami’s defense forced back-to-back punts and D’Eriq King led a 10-play drive over 82 yards as the Hurricanes took the lead by one, with Miami failing on a second straight two-point conversion however as the Hokies would only need a field goal to win. On the next offensive snap Hendon Hooker threw an interception but the defense would hold for a pair of late Miami punts. Starting at its own 4-yard line in the final two minutes the Hokies approached midfield and had a few successful laterals on a final desperation play but Miami held on for the comeback win and cover in the closely-lined game.

Northwestern (-3½) 27 Purdue 20 (48): The Wildcats never trailed in this game and pushed the lead to 27-13 in the fourth quarter with a 42-yard field goal. Purdue would make things interesting late, getting a touchdown to cut the margin in half about halfway through the final frame. The Boilermakers held on defense twice to force a pair of 3-and-outs, but the offense couldn’t deliver including taking a costly delay of game penalty on a 3rd-and-short on one of the late opportunities. The Wildcats held on for the win and cover in a defensive battle with neither team eclipsing 300 yards of offense.

Illinois (+5½) 23 Rutgers 20 (52): The Scarlet Knights appeared to take control of this game with a 66-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter to lead by 10. Illinois battled back to get within three late in the third and tied the game with a short field goal early in the fourth quarter. Neither team appeared eager to win as Illinois would miss field goals on its next two possessions while Rutgers had a pair of interceptions. In the final seconds Illinois kicker James McCourt got a chance at redemption and delivered from 47 yards for an Illinois upset.

Nebraska (+2½) 30 Penn State 23 (57½): In a battle of winless Big Ten squads Nebraska had a 27-6 lead at the half. Second halves have rarely been smooth coasts to a win in the Scott Frost era and Penn State won the third quarter 10-0 to have a shot. After holding Nebraska to a field goal early in the fourth the Nittany Lions needed only four plays to cut the deficit in half with a touchdown, trailing by seven with still more than nine minutes remaining. Luke McCaffrey was intercepted near midfield to hand Penn State a great opportunity but with four plays from the 11-yard line Penn State was stopped without adding points. Penn State’s defense held with another stop in a game where the Nittany Lions had a 501-298 yardage edge. Penn State reached the red zone again in the final minutes reaching 1st-and-goal from the 9-yard line but Will Levis was unable to complete a pass as Nebraska escaped with its first win.

Texas Tech (+1) 24 Baylor 23 (54½): Baylor led 23-12 through three quarters after settling for a short 23-yard kick late in the third quarter. That left the door open for Texas Tech, adding a touchdown to get within five following an exchange of punts. Baylor was again forced to punt but the Red Raiders weren’t able to go in front, sent backwards with penalties and getting a field goal on 4th-and-20 with about five minutes remaining. Baylor crossed midfield looking to put the game away but wound up punting to leave the Red Raiders at the 14-yard line. Alan Bowman hit a couple of big gains and SaRodorick Thompson ran the Red Raiders into field goal range. As time expired Texas Tech got the kick for the narrow win in a game that had a near even result on a near even line.

FREE PICK SUNDAY FROM THE GREEN SHEET: #251 Cincinnati Bengals +6.5 over Pittsburgh Steelers 3:25 PM CT

The Steelers have won 10 consecutive games vs. the Bengals and this was expected to be the second highest home favorite spread in this series since 2008. The Steelers had an incredible comeback to maintain its perfect start last week but that wasn’t the first time has struggled vs. a lesser squad this season. The Bengals were off last week and have scored 92 points the past three games all vs. winning AFC teams. Both teams have players on the Covid reserve list including Ben Roethlisberger for the Steelers as this line has come off the board at many outlets after opening as high as -10½. Joe Burrow continues to impress and only once this season have the Steelers won by more than 10 points as close games are the norm. Even if the key players are able to go for Pittsburgh, the disruption in the week’s schedule after a huge comeback win will be a challenge. For whatever reason NFL teams that start 8-0 have struggled getting to #9, going 4-11 ATS since 2005 with three of the past four 8-0 teams falling to 8-1. Both New England and San Francisco lost in Game #9 last season as well.

Big Ben and other key players for Pittsburgh look likely to play after being on the Covid list but lacking practice all week won’t be beneficial and while this would have been a rated pick north of +7 the Bengals are still appealing short of that key number with a competitive effort likely.

Free Pick from Green Sheet Issue #17: #225 Louisville +4 over Virginia 2:30 PM CT

Virginia won the ACC Coastal last season despite losing to Louisville in a game that wasn’t as close as the seven-point final. Both teams have struggled in 2020 with a decline though Louisville has shown some life with a win and two single-score losses in the past three games. Virginia was able to snap a four-game slide by upsetting North Carolina in its last game before these teams pushed this contest back a week. Louisville could be dealing with some roster challenges with 15 players reported as testing positive last week forcing the schedule change. Turnovers have been a big issue for Virginia from the quarterback position while the offensive statistics for Louisville suggest that of a better team. The Cardinals rush for 5.1 yards per carry and while Micale Cunningham has eight interceptions he has also thrown for 15 touchdowns while rushing for three more. Louisville has some potential in this contest even with a lower underdog spread than last season’s game at home.
