FREE PICK SATURDAY: #388 Tulsa -21.5 over Temple 3 PM CT

Tulsa is just 4-6 on the season but they have had competitive losses to Oklahoma State, Ohio State, and Cincinnati on the road, three of the top nine teams in the current CFP rankings. Tulsa needed overtime to beat Tulane last week and the three AAC wins have all been one-score games. It has been a brutal schedule path for the Golden Hurricane and this is a team that still projects much stronger than its record. This should be the most favorable opportunity of the season with the most similar game the home win over Arkansas State early in the season. Tulsa won only 41-34 in that game but had a 663-359 edge in yardage and ended the game right outside the end zone. Temple had a big win over Memphis early in the season but since that game the Owls have lost five in a row by a combined score of 217-35. The run did include Cincinnati and Houston but also a few middle-of-the-pack teams that grade similarly to Tulsa. Original starting QB D’Wan Mathis has already entered the transfer portal and his replacement Justin Lynch has struggled with the worst QB Rating among regulars in the conference. Temple is only gaining 3.8 yards per rush and Lynch with only 288 yards in part-time action is the team’s leading rusher as this is an incredibly limited offense that will have a difficult time if forced to play behind in the passing game. Temple’s defense is one of the worst rush defenses in the nation surrendering 222 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry. With the exception of Navy, Tulsa has outrushed four straight opponents by significant margins, posting at least 194 rushing yards in four of the past five games. Davis Brin has been mistake-prone at quarterback for Tulsa but in this matchup he should be able to lean on the ground game and mostly throw in favorable situations as Tulsa could reach its full potential this week. At 4-6 this team still has a shot to win out to reach a bowl game coming off going 6-3 last season and this home finale should provide the team with a great opportunity for a strong result, even at a price that is uncomfortable for a team with no lopsided wins on the season.
