Free Pick Monday: #904 Milwaukee Brewers (Woodruff) -130 over Philadelphia Phillies (Wheeler) 1:10 PM CT

Once the NL Cy Young favorite, Zack Wheeler’s season has fallen apart in the last month, posting a 4.81 ERA in six August starts. His ERA since the All-Star break is nearly double his first half ERA and he has far worse numbers on the road. Wheeler’s shutout vs. the Brewers from early in the season warrants attention but a lot has changed for Milwaukee’s lineup since that game as the Brewers are 30 games above .500 and look like one of the most complete teams in baseball. Milwaukee has some momentum off an incredible win Sunday to win a series with the Cardinals, getting a walk-off grand slam and ace Brandon Woodruff isn’t getting overpriced facing off with Wheeler today. Woodruff has allowed one or zero runs in four of his past five starts and he owns a 2.08 ERA in Milwaukee. Woodruff allowed just two hits at Philadelphia in May and the bullpen disparity between these teams is dramatic, even with a few recent hiccups for the Brewers. Philadelphia is facing a third straight road series with a challenging turnaround with another day game Monday and the Phillies went 10 innings yesterday while using nine pitchers in a bullpen game. The Phillies only had six hits on Sunday and on the season Philadelphia is batting just .228 on the road vs. right-handers. Milwaukee is 16-10 behind Woodruff who owns an impressive 0.94 WHIP and this pricing suggests these starters are roughly equivalent which has not been the case in recent weeks. The likely absence of Willy Adames is a negative for Milwaukee but the mound options for the Brewers can justify this number.
