Free Pick for Thursday #952 Milwaukee Brewers (Anderson) -110 over Cincinnati (Gray) 1:10 PM CT

While Brett Anderson is not part of Milwaukee’s big 3 on the mound his numbers mirror Sonny Gray’s this season with a 4.15 ERA that is identical to Gray’s while his 1.31 WHIP is a notch below the 1.32 mark for the higher profile Gray. The Reds are a lesser hitting team vs. left-handers and over the past 10 games Cincinnati is batting just .186 with 2.3 runs per nine vs. southpaw pitchers. In that span Milwaukee has scored 5.4 runs per nine vs. right-handers and over the past two weeks the Brewers have MLB’s top team wOBA. Anderson has a 3.13 ERA at home and his best start of the season was a home start vs. the Reds, allowing one hit over seven innings. Gray has allowed three or more runs in four of his past seven starts with just two quality starts in that span. The last time he faced the Brewers he allowed five runs and the bullpen edge for Milwaukee is quite clear, illustrated by a 1.93 ERA compared to a 6.59 ERA in comparing the relief numbers over the past 10 games. Milwaukee is 16-6 in August and the Brewers should have a good opportunity to complete the series sweep Thursday, having outscored Cincinnati by 15 runs in this series on the season.
