Free Pick for Wednesday: #700 Clemson -1 over Louisville 8:00 PM CT

Clemson has lost three straight games but two of those games came against the top two teams in the ACC. The Tigers do have top 30 caliber wins over Purdue, Alabama, and Florida State and only Virginia has won at Clemson. Duke is in a down season but beating Duke still carries a lot of weight and Louisville’s win Saturday could lead to a letdown for this game. That was a critical spot with the Cardinals riding their own losing streak and Louisville has played a very weak road schedule in ACC play so far. The strength of schedule in conference play has been at opposite ends of the spectrum for these teams to explain the statistical edges for Louisville but by season’s end the Tigers could wind up passing the Cardinals. Clemson does shoot very effectively from the line and is a strong interior defense. Clemson also forces turnovers at one of the highest rates in the nation. Both teams play extremely slow as turnovers will be a big factor in a game with limited possessions. Louisville has had some good luck with very poor free throw shooting from its opponents and last season Louisville lost by 15 in this building. This situation mirrors the set-up in which Louisville played well for a big win over the weekend and the price is right on the host in a desperate spot on the schedule.
