FREE PICK SUNDAY:

454 Washington Football Team -1 over Dallas Cowboys 12:00 PM CT

Dallas has won 11 of the past 14 in this series with strong ATS results as well, covering in both meetings last season and going 8-3-1 ATS since 2014. Dallas needed to win in Week 17 last season to have a chance at the division title in the last meeting between these teams and did its part with a lopsided result but Philadelphia also won to take the East crown. Dallas remains a 1st place team despite an embarrassing Monday night performance in the first game started by Andy Dalton. The Cowboys had four turnovers and two early Ezekiel Elliott fumbles were game-changers, resulting in the 14-0 deficit in the second quarter. Washington has lost five straight since winning the opener but they did deliver a significant yardage edge in New York last week, only to fail going for the win late on a two-point conversion. Kyle Allen was adequate at QB and the defense is capable while still playing hard for Ron Rivera despite the challenges this season. Dallas is among the worst run defenses in the NFL allowing 5.1 yards per carry and the short week for a struggling group laden with offensive line injuries looks problematic. Any statistical edges that Dallas may appear to have in comparing these teams can be thrown out the window as Dak Prescott was on pace for record-setting production this season and the drop-off to Dalton is severe. Dalton had strong results in his first five years in the league on decent Bengals teams but since 2016 his record as a starter is 20-36-1, including 2-12 the past two seasons. He has thrown 16 interceptions in 14 games since the start of last season while taking 41 sacks and he now faces a Washington defense with 16 sacks already this season.
