#925/926 ‘OVER 8’ Minnesota Twins (Odorizzi) at Miami Marlins (Gallen) 6:10 PM CT
Jake Odorizzi was an All Star but also a big-time overachiever in the first half of the season. His season line is impressive going 11-5 with a 3.84 ERA in 20 starts including a 9.4 K/9 that towers above his career average. Battling hand issues and regression, Odorizzi has looked like one of the worst pitchers in baseball in recent weeks however with a seven-start run surrendering 10 home runs in fewer than 33 innings including a 7.99 ERA. The Twins have managed to hold off red hot Cleveland so far though the gap in the division race is just two games and the Twins would be wise to address the bullpen in the next 24 hours with a season ERA of 4.37 and a lot of recent player turnover. Over the past 10 games the Twins have a 5.40 bullpen ERA with several disastrous performances. Miami home games have averaged only 8.5 runs per game but Twins road games are averaging 10.9 runs per game as Minnesota league-leading home run pace has featured 116 home runs in 53 road games with the team posting an .853 OPS on the road. Losing the DH isn’t helpful for the Twins with red hot Nelson Cruz forced out of the lineup but with a .919 OPS the past 10 games this is a deep and powerful lineup that gets production in every spot. The Marlins are one of baseball’s worst offense teams for the season but with 4.2 runs per game since June started the offense has improved including averaging 5.5 runs per game in the past 15 home dates. Zac Gallen is 23-years-old with six MLB starts to his name and a 4.6 BB/9 so far in his career. His 2.76 ERA looks impressive but his xFIP is 4.59 and he has had fewer than 33 percent of his outs on the ground, a dangerous sign against Minnesota. The Marlins also have a struggling bullpen with a 5.00 ERA at home this season and with no off day Monday and short starts over the weekend Miami could face another high-scoring contest as they did in Monday’s 11-6 win over Arizona.
Nelly’s won last night in MLB and we expect a multi-game offer by 3:00 PM CT for Tuesday night. Bobby Dalton has a 10* & 5* package posted for Tuesday Night baseball!
